Today, the Pulse interviews Jennifer Nix. Her essay “I Love My Socialist Kidney”
appeared in Salon this week.

The personal and the political intersect for Nix who has experienced single payer health care in the United States. Most people don’t realize that patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) qualify for single payer care for dialysis and kidney transplants.
Nix’s father’s life was saved by the same program shortly after it was signed into law in 1972.
