Weekly Pulse: Joe Lieberman and the Opt-Out Revolution

This week, Sen Majority Leader Harry Reid caved to progressive pressure (how’s that for a change?) and announced that the Senate health bill would include a trigger-free opt-out public option. Whereupon Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) proclaimed that he would support a GOP filibuster of any bill with a public option. Lieberman might be bluffing to extract concessions. Then again, he might be planning to sabotage the biggest Democratic policy initiative in a generation in order to garner GOP support for his reelection bid. With Joe, you never know.
