Who We Are

James Boyce, Founder
James has been at the forefront of the new media revolution since 1995 with the founding of Slingshot, one of the first and now largest independent new media ad agencies, in the United States. At Slingshot, James helped create both the first html and the first java-enabled banner ad on the web, for Dell Computer and FleetBoston respectively.
Following his yearlong experience as a Senior Advisor to John Kerry in 2004, James increased his focus on helping progressive companies, causes and candidates maximize their new media success.
As an original contributor to The Huffington Post, James has emerged as one of the top progressive bloggers in the country speaking at Netroots Nation and other conferences on the use of Social and New Media. James also appeared over 150 times on MSNBC during the last Presidential campaign as both a Democratic Strategist and New Media Expert.
James lives in Boston where he spends as much time as he can with his two children.

Andrew Daley, President
Andrew has more than 16 years of experience in marketing, business development and online product development working both on domestic and global brands. He has held key senior marketing positions at several premiere consumer brands such as National Leisure Group where he worked on major online cruise brands, www.cruises.com as well as www.cruisesonly.com leading the turnaround and rebranding of those companies.
Prior to NLG, Andrew worked at Starwood Hotels and at Reebok International.

Max Bernstein, Principal
Formerly of The Huffington Post, Max is one of the principal components of Common Sense NMS and has worked on, among other clients, Governor Richardson’s Campaign, (RED), Climate Counts, Veterans For America and more.
Max is currently on leave from Common Sense to play lead guitar for Ke$ha, the chart-topping pop artist.

Nathan Havey, Political Director
Nathan is an active participant in the movement for progressive social change on issues ranging from national security to creating a sustainable economy to women’s rights and empowerment. As a former congressional staffer, Nathan’s knowledge of Capitol Hill helps him to work for progressive goals inside and outside of Washington.
Nathan is originally from Denver, Colorado and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with dual degrees in theatre (acting) and political science. Nathan also holds a Master of Public Policy from the George Washington University in Washington, DC. Nathan is a blogger at a number of national political and news websites including the Huffington Post.

Katherine Chambers, Senior Account Director
Katherine has over ten years of marketing experience with a proven record of thought leadership and innovative thinking in her field. .As Director of Online Marketing and Distribution for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., Katherine conceptualized and launched a local web publishing platform which quickly became a company global standard. In 2006, Katherine was selected by Starwood’s CEO to lead GenNext which was composed of 50 high-potential directors who were cultivated to become the next generation of leaders within the company.
While serving as Director of Interactive Marketing for the Houston Zoo, Katherine led the planning and implementation of the new website and all communication strategies which was recognized as best practice in the non-profit sector including articles published in OnPhilanthropy.com and PR Quarterly.
Most recently, Katherine was the VP of US Marketing for HomeAway, Inc. based in Austin, Texas where she managed a team of 11 and led all traveler marketing planning and execution, including search engine marketing, email marketing and promotional development.
Katherine recently relocated to Houston full time to be with her husband and their new daughter.

Cody Merritt, Social Media Director
Cody holds a Masters in Global Communication from the American University of Paris. Cody has been intimately involved in the use of new media as a tool for democracy and advocacy. In 2009, he was was named a finalist in the AAFT International Festival of Cellphone Cinema in New Delhi. He is also the co-inventer of the 2.go mobile marketing platform (patent pending). Cody also serves as a board-fellow for ArtCorps, a non-profit organization that uses the arts to advance social change initiatives in developing countries.

Sarah Kidwell, Account Executive
Sarah Kidwell holds a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Boston University’s, School of Management. Before joining the Common Sense team, Sarah traveled with the Admissions staff at Boston University and worked as an intern in Advertising Sales at Conde Nast Publications.
At Common Sense, Sarah has worked extensively with such clients as (PRODUCT) RED, The Rainforest Alliance and Rush Philanthropic and has, for the past two years, managed her clients day to day relationships and needs. Her skills include but are not limited to weekly analytic reporting, content implementation, and project management.
Sarah is based in Washington, DC.

Alex Goldstone, Account Executive
Alex joined Common Sense in October 2009. Prior to joining the team, Alex managed the Annual Fund at the Houston Zoo where she surpassed her fundraising goals each year and was applauded for continued innovative thinking and leadership within her role. A Colorado native, Alex graduated with honors from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a BA in Psychology and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She has a particular interest in online marketing and evolving channels for clients, and is a fanatical blog enthusiast.

Jessica Campbell, Associate Account Executive
Jessica recently graduated from Northeastern University studying International Business and Marketing with a minor in Spanish. Originally from New York, she recently spent one year living in Spain studying and completing a 6 month internship at Warner Bros Espana in the Trade Marketing Department.
She also brings knowledge of marketing and research from her prior experience at MFS Investment Management. In addition to her studies, Jessica was the treasurer of the International Business Club and a member of the Northeastern University Marketing Association.
